All who are thirsty

While the past 6 weeks of this new year have been remarkable for me in reaching some personal goals, we have been experiencing a financial struggle that we haven't had in a while. I shouldn't really use the word struggle as we are not destitute, just making difficult choices, and I'm not shopping much. I started having a little bit of panic a couple of weeks ago while working on the budget and literally seeing zero dollars in the left over column. That means, zero going into savings, and actually dipping into savings to cover all expenses. My mind initially went to "trust in God", but my heart did not. I couldn't let it rest. I needed to be in control of this, and quickly. I started trying to think of how I could make some money, did I need to go back to work, did I need to hurry up and do a quick garage sale rather than get all my stuff together in an organized way... I was trying to think of anything "I" could do. Finally, after talking to my mom about it this morning, peace came over me. I'm sure she was praying. If I know my mom, and I do, she prayed quickly after getting off the phone with me. There are so many scriptures on peace, but the one I often refer to during times of crisis is Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I suddenly felt less anxious, and peace covered me.
So, I'm going to the fountain to satisfy my thirst. Thirsty for more of you, Lord! Thank you for providing for me through your word, and through your promises in your Word!
- Psalm 37:25 "I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread."
- Philippians 4:19 "And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
- Isaiah 41:10 "'Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
- Psalm 55:22 "Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail)"
- Matthew 6:31-34 "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
